Community Care Act

The National Health Service provides medical care in hospitals which is free to everyone, but under the Community Care Act 1990, the provision of long term care, other than care that must be provided by a registered nurse, has become the responsibility of individual Local Authorities.

The following is a guide to the Community Care Act (1990):

You should always check with your local social services department, because there may be other benefits which you are entitled to, or more specific rules that could affect your situation. Also, some Local Authorities apply the Act in different ways.

We cannot accept any liability for any loss resulting from our interpretation of regulations and laws which can change.

This guide is based on our understanding of current law and benefit rules as at 1st October 2007.

Please note that long term care insurance products cannot be purchased through this site. Lifetime Care Products are only available via financial advisers.
